Overview of Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) was established in 1996 and set aside by the Government to conserve, economically develop and sustain wildlife in collaboration with neighboring communities for the overall benefits of Ugandans and global community.

Currently, the authority manages ten (10) national parks, twelve (12) wildlife reserves, five (5) community wildlife management areas, and thirteen (13) wildlife sanctuaries etc.

UWA operates as a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities. To strengthen existing workforce and foster growth, the management seeks to recruit eligible, motivated, result-oriented and interested persons for available vacancies.

Eligibility Criteria for UWA Recruitment 2025

• Citizenship: Prospective applicants of this recruitment exercise must hail from Uganda and do possess a valid National Identity Card or Passport.

Qualifications for Uganda Wildlife Authority Job Vacancies 2025

Below are the direct specifications for each position announced.

1. Senior Manager Human Resource

• Persons applying for this position must hold first degree in either Human Resource Management, Social Science, Organizational Psychology, Social Administration, Business Administration or a closely related discipline.
• Applicants with Master’s degree in either Management Science course or any of the above have an added advantage.
• Possess relevant professional qualifications from recognized institution is a plus.
• Applicant of this role must possess a minimum of twelve (12) years professional work experience.

2. Senior Manager Community Conservation and Ex-situ Wildlife Services

• Ideal candidate for this position must hold a Bachelor’s degree in either Education, Zoology, Botany, Veterinary Medicine, Conservation Biology, Wildlife Health or a closely related discipline.
• Having a Master’s degree in any of the above discipline or related course is necessary.
• Candidate must have 12 years work exposure including holding managerial position for at least three (3) years.

3. Manager Procurement

• This position requires candidates with first degree in Procurement and Logistics Management, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a closely related discipline.
• Master’s degree in either Procurement, Business Administration or a closely related discipline is a plus.
• Applicant is expected to have an accumulative nine (9) years of relevant work experience including occupying the position of Principal Procurement Officer.

4. Manager, Human Wildlife Conflict

• Interested applicant must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Natural Resource Management, Zoology, Conservation Biology, Botany or a related discipline from any accredited institution.
• Applicants with Master’s in Conflict Resolution or any of the discipline above have an added advantage.
• A total of nine (9) years professional work experience in Wildlife Conservation is required.

5. Manager Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation

• Candidates applying for this position must hold first degree in Monitoring and Evaluation Studies, Economics, Statistics or a closely related discipline.
• Possess a Master’s degree is a plus and also a minimum of nine (9) years professional work experience is required.
