Overview of the Nigerian Military School

The Nigerian Military School (NMS) was officially founded on 20th May 1954 with first platoon of thirty (30) boys only. Before then, the institution was known as Boys Company of Nigeria with the aim of ensuing every family have active serving military personnel.

Till date, the Nigerian Military School Zaria has pursued its core objectives of discipline, knowledge, and patriotism across all seven companies, namely:

Kaduna Company – Blue Colour
Lagos Company – Yellow Colour
Ibadan Company – Red Colour
Enugu Company – Green Colour
Abuja Company – Purple Colour
Calabar Company – Maroon Colour
Zaria Company – Pink Colour

NMS Admission Requirements 2025/2026

The Nigerian Military School do offer provisional admission on a yearly basis to candidates who best fit the eligibility criteria. Thus, to get shortlisted or selected to study in the school, your ward must adhere to the following:

Applicant must be a Nigerian preferably male.
Should be within 12 and 14 years at the time applying.
Must have finished primary school education.
Due to the nature of training involved, candidate must be medically and physically fit.
Should be of a sound moral character.

Must partake in the entrance examination.
Must provide valid copies of exam photocard.
