Requirements for Ministry of Water Recruitment 2025
- Citizenship: Persons interested in applying for the Ministry of water and irrigation jobs must hail from Kenya, possessing a valid National Identity Card or Passport etc.
- Entry Age Range: Applicants for entry level must be between 20 to 35 years. Managerial positions allows till 45 years.

Qualifications for Ministry Water and Sanitation Jobs 2025
The key criteria that fosters your appointment are as follows:
1. Director/Chief Engineer of Irrigation and Drainage
- This is a delegated position as such interested candidate must have a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in either Civil Engineer, Agricultural Engineer, Soil or Water Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Applicant is expected to have a minimum of twenty (20) years relevant work experience.
- Applicant must be a registered engineer with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
- Interested applicant must have attended a leadership or management course that lasted for at least six (6) weeks.
2. Deputy Director, Irrigation and Drainage
- Candidate qualified for this position must have served as Assistant Director and other positions to have a cumulative eighteen (18) years’ work experience.
- Applicant is expected to have completed a degree program in either Civil Engineering or any other engineering course from an accredited institution.
- Having a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Registration with relevant professional bodies like IEK etc. is an added advantage.
- Applicant must have completed a certified six-week leadership development training.
3. Irrigation Water Management Officer II
- Person considered suitable for this role, is one with a Bachelor’s degree in Soil, Environment and Land Use Management, Agriculture or any other related academic discipline.
- Certification must be from an approved and recognized tertiary institution.
- Applicant must be a good interpersonal communicator.
4. Assistant Engineer II
- Applicant must have Degree in relevant Engineering course like Agriculture, Bio-System, and Soil etc. from an accredited tertiary institution.
