About Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA)

The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) was established under the Agriculture and Food Authority Act, No. 13 of 2013, to consolidate and streamline agricultural regulatory functions in Kenya.

Eligibility Criteria for AFA Recruitment 2025

Job Description & Qualifications

1. Deputy Director, Corporate Communication (1 Position)

The role of this position is to coordinate the development, implement and review the entity’s policies, strategies, plans, procedures and how the corporation communicates.

The holder of the position is also tasked with monitoring the media on issues that affect the Authority and the sector while advising the board about them.

Qualifications:

  • At least 15 years working experience with an organization which 3 years at minimum was pointed at any management role.
  • Master’s and bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related.
  • Certificate in Leadership Course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution

2. Director, Legal Services (1 Position)

Duties and responsibilities of this position entails the provision of legal advisory services to the management to ensure it complies with existing laws and regulatory requirements of AFA.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years work experience with 5 of which must have been in a senior management position
  • Master’s and bachelor’s degree in Law preferably
  • Post graduate diploma in Law from a recognized institution
  • An advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing

3. Director, Finance (1 Position)

This position is tasked with the responsibilities of handling the production, development, implementation, and revision of policies, tips, procedures, standards, and guidelines that alings with financial services in AFA.

Qualifications:

  • Up to fifteen years work experience with a relevant entity, five years of these fifteen years must be in a senior management position.
  • Master’s and bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or equivalent.
  • CPA (K) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
  • Membership of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK)
