Eligibility Criteria for IEBC Recruitment 2025/2026

Nationality: Only Kenyan citizens with valid National Identity Card or Passport are eligible to apply for vacancies at the electoral commission.

1. Chairperson

The commission fosters gender equity as such both male and female candidates poised for leadership can apply for this position.
Applicant must hold qualifications such as Bachelor or Masters of Law.
He or she must have gained over 15 years’ experience as a judge of a superior court, judicial officer or a legal practitioner.
Applicant must not be competing in the forthcoming elections.
Must not have held an elected public office in the last five (5) years either as a County Assembly or member of political part of state office.

2. Member of IEBC

The roles of the members of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission shall include strategic decision making and general assistance to the chairpersons to ensure seamless conduct of elections.
Candidates applying should be a degree graduate of any accredited university.
An accumulative post-graduation experience of about ten (10) years in fields such as Electoral matters, Management, Finance, Government, Public administration etc. are required.
Candidates currently holding offices in Parliament, County Assembly or Political party are not eligible to apply.

3. Election County Coordinator

Candidates applying for this role must have at least a C- in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) or equivalent qualification.
Those with a Diploma or Degree have an added advantage.
Candidate applying must be a person of high integrity and should not be a member of any political party.
Exhibiting good communication and interpersonal skills is a plus.
Applicant must be proficient in relevant computer applications.
Should be residing in the constituency and ward which they apply for.
Applicant should be ready to give full-time attention throughout the elections period.

4. Ward Based Voter Educator

To qualify for this job, you must have gained at least three (3) years’ experience in voters/civic education, community mobilization etc.
Candidate must have at least a Diploma in Social Sciences, Education or Project Management.
Residing in the ward is mandatory.
Strong communication, writing and reporting skills are mandatory.
Applicant should be conversant with the primary local language of the ward.
Must not be an active member of any political party.
