Requirements for Public Works Recruitment 2025/2026
To get appointed for these roles, below are the criteria you must meet:
Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Applications would only be accepted from citizens of Kenya who possess current National Identity Card or Passport.
- Age Limit: Applicants of these jobs must be above 20 years of age.
- K.C.S.E: Interested candidates must possess a minimum of D+ mean grade in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education and this must include English/Kiswahili languages.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
In addition to the above eligibility criteria, below are the key qualifications needed:
1. Senior Principal Built Environment Officer
- Persons interested in this role must have a minimum of three (3) years experience relevant to this position.
- Applicant must also have a Bachelor’s degree in either Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Candidate must be a registered member of relevant professional bodies.
2. Deputy Director, Building Inspection and Audit
- Interested candidate must have at least three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Applicant must have completed a Bachelor’s degree program in relevant field of study from a recognized institution.
- Professional affiliation is pivotal.
3. Director, Building Inspection and Audit
- Applicant must have both Masters and Bachelor’s degree in either Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Survey, Urban and Regional Planning or any other relevant academic discipline.
- Candidate applying must have served in the capacity of Deputy Director for a minimum of three (3) years period.
4. Chief Quantity Surveyor
- Applicants for this role must be a registered member of Board of Registrations of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya.
- Possess a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in either Quantity Surveying, Building Economics or any other relevant academic discipline is a plus.
- Professional registration with the Institute of Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK).
5. Driver
- Candidates applying for any Driving position must have a valid license free of current endorsement for any vehicle approved by the department.
- Passing the Occupational Trade Test I is mandatory.
- A minimum of three (3) years work experience is required.
- Applicant must possess a Certificate of Good Conduct from Kenya Police and Defensive driving certificate from the automobile association of Kenya.
