Eligibility Criteria for Ministry of Defence Recruitment 2025

• Citizenship: Persons interested to submit application must be a Kenyan citizen who holds a valid National Identity Card or Passport and also resides in the Country.
• Age: Whether for KDF or Civilian positions, applicants must be within 18 – 35 years of age.
• Clearance: In fulfillment of chapter 6 of the Kenyan constitution, persons applying must possess clearance certificates/documents from Higher Education Loan Board (HELB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Ethics Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) etc.
• Personal Competence: Candidate must be a patriotic citizen, free of criminal record or pending charges, possess good communication and interpersonal skills, be proficient in relevant computer applications.
• KCSE: Generally, irrespective of the position you wish to apply, having the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) with at least D+ mean grade or possess an equivalent qualification is compulsory.

Qualifications for Ministry of Defence KDF Recruitment 2025

Persons interested in the 2025 KDF recruitment exercise, must meet the following criteria to get selected.

1. General Service Officer (GSO)

• Candidates interested in this position must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification from any accredited institution.
• Must be within 18 and 26 years of age.
• Should be mentally, medically and physically fit.
• Male candidate must be at least 5ft 3in tall while women should be at least 5ft.
• Minimum weight for men is 54.55kg (120 lb) while women should be 50.00kg (110 lb).
• Body mass for both male and female applicants must be below 30.

2. General Duty Recruits

• Candidates interested in this position must hold at least a D (plain) mean grade in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E).
• Candidate must have successfully complete the National Youth Service (NYS) training.
• Must not exceed 26 years of age.

3. Tradesmen/Women

• Candidate must have a Diploma in any relevant field of study from an accredited tertiary institution.
• Those with Government Trade Test Grade II or Craft II certificate and a minimum of D+ (plus) mean grade in KCSE can apply.
• Applicants of this category must be within 18 and 26 years of age.

4. Constables

• This position is ideal for retired KDF service member or National Youth Serviceman/women.
• As retired KDF service member, you should be within 30 and 55 years of age, possess a Discharge certificate with “Good” rating and must have gained a minimum of 9 years experience (color service and retired honorably from KDF).
• Retired NYS Serviceman/woman must not exceed 45 years of age, and must hold a valid Discharge Certificate with at least “Good” in rating.

Qualifications for Ministry of Defence Civilian Jobs 2025

If you wish to apply for Civilian vacancies, then follow through the requirements below.

1. Motor Vehicle Mechanic III

• To get appointed for this position, you must hold a mean grade D plain in KCSE.
• Must hold the Artisan National Trade Test Certificate Grade III or apprentice certificate issued by the National Industrial Training Authority.
• Applicants with NYS certificates have an added advantage.

2. Senior Support Staff

• Applicant must hold KCSE and also a certificate in relevant computer applications.

3. Artisan III (Motor Vehicle Electrician)

• Candidates applying for this position must have a mean grade “D” plain in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
• Applicant must have the Artisan National Trade Test Certificate Grade III or apprentice certificate issued by the National Industrial Training Authority.
• Those with NYS certificates have an added advantage.

4. Cook III

• Applicant must have a Craft Certificate in Food and Beverage Production, Sales and Service or a closely related discipline.
• Alternatively, candidates who completed a professional course in Food Production for at least two (2) months at the Kenya Utali College or an equivalent institution can apply.

5. Clerical Officer II

• Interested applicant must hold KCSE with at least C- mean grade or equivalent qualification and also be proficient in relevant computer application skills.
